a portrait of my child once a week, every week, in 2013
Flushed. Yesterday was our first taste of hot and humid this season. We took a long walk to the store to pick up an enormous watermelon, gobbled down nearly half of it, then sat around in our skivvies- sticky with melon juice and sweat. I feel summer on its way, and can already tell that being this pregnant once the heat wave hits is going to be... interesting.

Nice!! I am still shocked to be in sweatshirts most of the time here.. Being pregnant when it's hot IS interesting. We lived in Tennessee when I was pregnant with Gus and he was born September 13...so I got ALL of the summer. My advice is to keep outdoor time to early in the mornings and late in the evenings, and fill up your days with ACed indoor spaces- museums, cafes, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteHis rosy little cheeks! So cute. And oh, I can't wait for melon season! And farmers market... which should be starting up anytime now, right?
ReplyDeleteI love the heat but the humidity? Not a fan (neither is my frizzy hair).
Ah. I was pregnant with Thing 2 in the Arizona summertime (we lived their for a year. The hottest year of my life. No thanks). Not a good time. Sending cool breeze wishes your way for sure!
ReplyDeleteHe's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteWe had a few hot days and now we are back to wind and cold!
I wish you the best this summer. Hopefully you'll get moderate weather.
Love those rosy cheeks! It definitely is interesting being so far into pregnancy in the summer. Last summer treated my large belly to many 100 degree days, very unusual, but cool drinks, hanging in the shade and lots of ice did the trick. Our garden sure did suffer, but I was comfortable! :)
